Bubba's second visit from the Tooth Fairy
Bubba's second adult tooth on the bottom had already started coming in and was pointing towards the back of her mouth when the baby tooth above it finally got wiggly. We have been watching it for a while, since the first one she swallowed. I kept pestering her about it and how wiggly it was, and we even tried tweezers to get it out of there. She could move it in all directions, which grossed out Mower to no end. Me, I can handle seeing c-sections and other surgeries, but can't stand seeing someone re-enact a bloody war scene, like Mower could watch all day, and yet he was disgusted and I was fascinated by her tooth turning sideways. She was disappointed it didn't come out, but understood that, "It wants to stay with it's family and doesn't want to be lonely. It's happy with me. It doesn't want to go with the Tooth Fairy."
Handsome had crashed out, and I laid down next to him and was sooooo close to being asleep when Ms. Chatty started telling me all about fall. Here's the layout of the bedroom now that I have given in and made the master into the sleeping room:
I love hearing her knowledge on things, so I listened and grunted when appropriate, holding her hand between the beds. I finally told her it was time to sleep, and she settled in. Not a minute later, she sat up and exclaimed, "Mommy! I lost my tooth!" She wiggled it with her tongue and got it out. I was so thankful she was awake when it happened and we went into the hallway to take pictures and tell her Daddy.
He seemed sad when he saw her tooth in her hand. She hugged him and said, "I'm sorry, Daddy, but I have to grow up."
You can see where her adult tooth is growing in facing backwards instead of upwards. The dentist we took her to on Friday, which excited her to no end because it was also the first day of fall, said it should go into place as she loses more teeth and has more room. How awesome of a kid do I have that she is excited to go to the dentist?
Unfortunately, the juice cups we allowed her to go to bed with for the better part of two years because she wouldn't take water have done considerable damage, and our poor little girl has to pay for our stupidity. Hopefully her adult teeth will be healthier if we continue to do better and use more flouride. I'm sorry Bubba--Mommy and Daddy should have been more careful and watched out for you more.
I was amazed at how little her tooth is:
We bought a special pillow for her at CrackerBarrel for the next tooth, so it wouldn't get lost under her pillow. It was a momentous occasion for her to put her tooth in it, since she missed out on it the first time.
The Tooth Fairy came in the night and brought her two dollars. We figured out that the Tooth Fairy was extremely generous for the first tooth, especially since it was swallowed, and that she would probably bring three dollars for the third tooth, four for the fourth, etc. That made Bubba happy. She loves the Tooth Fairy dust on the bed leading her to her money, also.
We are still encouraging her to save some, so she will be putting it into her new bank from Budwad's wife, a wonderful lady we have had the pleasure to get to know, and who was so sweet to our kids and got them these adorable banks (Thanks, babe!!):
