The complete and honest truth is that there is not a system set up to protect Dominick at the moment. The system is protecting the father's rights, rights that he has repeatedly shown to be of little value to him. He places more emphasis on the importance of a rearview mirrow rather than a child as precious as Dominick. With the rearview mirror he saw his estranged wife chasing the vehicle in which he held Dominick captive as he took him away to sadistically torture the poor woman. It's psychological and emotional abuse, and what he's heaping on her, you can only imagine that he's heaping on an innocent little boy who is crying for the one person who has tried to keep him safe and loved--his mommy.

I think she went to dinner with her soon-to-be ex to be nice, to see if he could be civil at least as they work out the details of dissolving a disasterous relationship. She had hopes, as so many single moms do, that the man who fathered her child would have a heart and want to be a positive influence in the child's life. Not so with this dirtbag. It was a ploy to take away from her what would hurt her the most.

The only consolation at the moment is that he is still enjoying his supposed control over her by keeping Dominick. Is he fed? His diaper changed? Who knows right now? The guy is keeping Dominick around to continue to torture the woman who he decided needs to be broken because she had the nerve to leave him after he beat her up and put her in a hospital. It's only a consolation because until he tires of his games, he needs Dominick. Hopefully, before he decides it's not worth it anymore and does God knows what to not bother with Dominick anymore, there is a hope she can find the right people to help her. Law enforcement and the justice system to this point have not bothered to, but there is always hope that something will happen with someone who is not intimidated by the Good Ol' Boy way of thinking "The bitch went nuts and the kid can take a few days of roughing it." I'm praying to God that happens.

It's so sad that there are things in place to protect children, and grown adults get their dick in a wad about using them because they think they are a better judge of character than the person who has seen firsthand how someone is. The Amber Alert should have gone out, and it didn't. I shudder to think what would happen if it were my children and no one was willing to help me.
